Civilization IV – A Game Review

Civilization IV is a game that has many players glued to the screen there playing on. They love the new features, additions and changes that make it even more appealing than the previous Civilization games. It is a game that will draw in anyone who loves games about history and who eats up strategic games.

In this game you can pick to be one of several nation leaders. And each leader has two special abilities that will transform how your game will play out. In the beginning the game starts out pretty simple. You can trade only through using roads and rives and as the game progresses you can eventually trade through ocean tiles.

Religion is a new aspect to this game. There are several different religions to choose from and the key is to get everyone in your colony to follow the same religion and beliefs as you. Having the same religion as your neighbor might mean that you become friends and that can promote several advantages to game play. The game will not ultimately be changed or affected by religion in any way, but it does add to the game and makes it interesting to play using it as a tool.

The way the military functions is another difference in this game. There are more factors for attack and defense that can be considered. It allows you to see what your chances of success are before you chosen to attack or defend yourself. The military also receive upgrades and bonuses as they gather experience points.

Many people had suggestions for this game that included adding game speed flexibility. And so due to user feedback, game speed was added. You can choose from a slow speed, to a fast regular speed to a quick speed. In quick speed mode the entire game can be finished in a few hours. Increasing the speed times allow a better challenge for players. That means that they can begin in slow mode and move into quick speed as their skills become more developed and defined.

You can upgrade the game buy spending more money. There are 32 resources that enable construction at double the speed, or can accelerate growth or add happiness or health to a colony. The new interface allows you to develop cities without having to constantly stop and open the menu. With all of the messages you will be receiving the less time you need for stopping the game will help you to advance in the game at a quicker rate.

Civilization IV is another brilliant addition to the Civilization saga. It provides players with the features they have come to love and respect while adding some new features to add to the appeal of the new game. Reviews have been mixed where most players love the new additions to the game and can`t wait for another one to come out, while some others frown at the graphics used. It is based on personal opinion and how critical people decide to be.

Overall, this game was highly recommended. It has been noted that once you begin playing this game you won`t be able to put it down. Its intense and powerful way to construct an empire leave you feeling hooked in the game right up until the end. This game will be sure to twist your brain and tweak you until you design the perfect place amid lots of unexpected battle attacks and situations. You need to begin this game able to think fast, make the right decisions and ultimately do nothing less than win the game and battle the world.

Lost In The City Game Review

Lost in the City is a new game that beautifully combines the traditional hidden object puzzle elements with an engrossing and thrilling mystery/horror adventure feel.

The game starts with you waking up in a locked room that looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in 20 years. You then recall that you had previously gone on a first date with some girl, and almost immediately fell in love with her. But when you followed her back to her apartment, you remember her giving you a cup of coffee that was drugged, leading you to this predicament. Moral of the story? Don’t drink anything on the first date! (heh)

So you are stuck in a locked room and need to find your way out. This is reminiscient of the Japanese Crimson Room and Viridian Room games from a few years back. And when you manage to get out, you suddenly discover that the entire town is deserted and wrecked, and you seem to be the only living thing there. Resident Evil anyone?

There are a lot of things going for Lost in the City. For one thing, the artwork and soundtrack are gorgeous. They totally bring to life the sole survivor horror feel of the game.

What’s also interesting and very refreshing is that every item you are supposed to find actually has a purpose later on in the game. All too often in other hidden object games, you end up having to spot totally random hidden objects in each scene. I mean… what are handcuffs and a toy car doing in a barber shop? In Lost in the City, everything makes sense. You need to find keys to open safes, and matches to light candles. Having to find an audio tape, the tape recorder, batteries and cable definitely sounds more logical than clicking on random objects.

There are also mini-games that separate the different stages of the game and advance the story. These include cracking numerical codes to safes, unscrambling maps and photos, and even solving riddles in order to find out where you need to go next.

The timers in the game also make sense. Rather than giving you an arbitary timer during which you need to complete a task, you get specific story-related timers. For example, you need to put out a fire in time or you’ll inhale too much smoke and pass out.

It’s the little things like these that make Lost in the City a perfect blend of storytelling and hidden object puzzles. And the story itself is pretty compelling with lots of detail and depth. I won’t spoil it here, but suffice to say that the developers have taken their time to create a very engrossing story that can actually spark an emotion in you.

Whether you’re into powerful story-telling and the mystery/horror genre that comes with the sole survivor adventure style, or you like hidden object puzzles that includes a strong purpose and depth, this game is definitely worth playing. It’s time to get Lost in the City.

Hidden Object Games Review: Paranormal Agency

Paranormal Agency is a typical hidden object game. You look for hidden objects in order to advance to the next level in the game. In Paranormal Agency, the hidden objects can come in the form of outlines to match, words, or a theme.  The themes can be anything from light sources to ghosts.

Paranormal Agency is very standard. For those who think that hidden object games are too complicated then this is the perfect game for you. The game does not offer all the bells and whistles of the fancier games. It does offer a basic hidden object game without taking up a lot of memory. The file size is about 30MB. This is about a third of the fancier games.

The game begins by Heather Williams calling a paranormal specialist. Apparently, a child has been taken by a ghost. The investigator comes and after the first hidden object search, the investigator says the child is still there. A few searches later, and the child is found and Heather Williams is left with a piece of the ghost. She now has ESP and starts a career in paranormal science. Years pass and the investigator dies. The investigator left his business to Heather. Now she is searching on her own.

Paranormal Agency is supposed to take you on a spooky adventure. Unfortunately, it falls flat. While the graphics are good, they fall short of being scary or even creepy. The dialogue lacks appeal.  Luckily you can skip the dialogue. The game play isn’t bad though. If you are looking for a straight forward hidden object game, this will be right up your alley.

Each scene has you searching for a different amount of hidden objects. Like many hidden object games, the list contains about 5 items at a time. When you find one item, the item disappears from the list and new ones appear until you are down to the last few items. This game has one of my favorite features: the disappearing item. I like it when a game has the item disappear after you find it. I find it makes searching easier because it decreases the clutter.

Paranormal Agency does offer mini-games throughout the game. One mini-game has you detangle thread. Not quite sure of the point, but none-the-less it is an interesting puzzle. Another one of the mini-games is a spot the difference game.  Personally, I love spot the difference games and this one does not let you down. The screen is split in half has arrows on both sides for easy clicking on the differences.

You can find Paranormal Agency at Marco Polo Games. You can try the game for an hour for free. That gives you more than enough time to decide if you like the game or not. If you like it great! You can buy it from the site. If not then there are hundreds of other games to try for free. It won’t take you long to find a hidden object game that is perfect for you at Marco Polo Games.

Marco Polo Games has many games to choose from. Categories include action and arcade, card and board games, hidden object, Mahjong, puzzle, and word games. Please visit us at www.marcopologames.com.
